Overseas services. Some of these providers may store information on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose reputable providers and take reasonable steps to make sure they protect it in line with Australian privacy law.
Keeping it safe, and your rights
Security. We store information in secure, password-protected systems with access limited to the staff who need it, and we keep paper records locked away. We keep records for as long as the law requires: generally at least 7 years after your last support with us, and longer for children. After that we destroy or de-identify them securely. If a data breach is likely to cause someone serious harm, we will notify them and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
Access and correction. You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. We will respond within 30 days. If we can't give you access, for example because it would affect someone else's privacy, we will tell you why in writing.
